An extremely fine antique English porcelain coffee can, of flared form, made by the Chamberlain Worcester factory. The cup features a beautiful bouquet of flowers and stunning gilding on the borders, the entire interior, and the entire handle. It is fully marked with painted red script on the bottom. A spectacular First Period Worcester porcelain dish decorated by James Giles. The dish is quite large, at 9 1/4" in diameter, and is molded with an undulating border, wide fluting running from the edges to the recessed central scalloped area. The overall form is that of a soup dish, but it appears to be overly large for that. That area is decorated with three beautiful butterflies around a central flower sprig...

A superb and extremely large Chaffers Liverpool porcelain tankard with a slightly spreading base. Beautifully painted with a large bouquet of flowers on the side opposite the strapped handle, with 4 sprigs of different flowers placed, at a distance, at each of the four corners of the central painting, near where the handle joins the body of the piece.

The tankard is 5 5/8" tall, with a top diameter of 3 5/8" and a bottom diameter of 3 3/4"...

This type ware is often mistakenly referred to as Leeds and feather edge. In reality, many factories other than Leeds made pearlware items of this nature, and the type edge here is more properly called a molded edge. This particular plate is marked with an impressed flower on the back. It has an elaborate raised tree and floral decoration.

An English 18th century porcelain pickle dish made at the Limehouse Manufactory, in perfect condition. This exceptionally rare piece is molded in the form of a scallop shell, and is painted in underglaze blue, based on a K'ang Hsi pattern, with a Chinese vase containing two feathers. The vase is in front of a partially unrolled scroll, with an insect to the right and three flocks of birds in the distance...

A beautiful polychrome Lowestoft creamer, of the Chelsea Ewer, or Dolphin Ewer, form, in a highly desirable small size. The body is molded and painted, in the style of the "Tulip Painter", with a variety of leaves and flowers in bright, vibrant colors.

Superb condition, with no chips, cracks, restoration, or paint loss. The length, from spout tip to the end of the handle, is 3 3/4", the height is 3", and the width is 2".

A fine example of the rare Lowestoft porcelain "Mandarin Green Window" pattern made between 1768 and 1775.

The bowl and saucer are in very good condition, with the saucer having a small flaw, which appears to be in the making, at the edge at 11 o'clock. The bowl has no issues at all. Colors are much stronger than shown in the photos. The saucer is 5" in diameter, and the bowl is 1 3/4" in height.

An excellent example of an uncommon form, a Lowestoft hand painted butter boat, showing two houses on an island and with a lattice border on the leaf-shaped piece, and with an angular stalk handle. Retains the label of Rod Jellicoe, a well-known dealer in English porcelain.

The condition is excellent, with bright colors and no chips, cracks, paint loss, or restoration. 2 1/4" long by 2" wide.

A beautiful example of a Lowestoft porcelain pickle leaf dish with a grape and vine decoration and the berry border. Vein molded on the reverse. The foot rim has a workman's mark.

A fine example of a coffee can made by the Seth Pennington Liverpool factory. The pattern, known as the "Scolding Woman" shows two polychrome Chinoiserie figures along with a large tree and rockwork.

The condition is superb, with no flaws and looking factory fresh. The height is 2 1/2" and the diameter is 2 1/4".

A Bow porcelain coffee cup of very rare beaker, or bucket, form. The scene is "The Koto Player", depicting a woman seated under a tree, playing the koto. The other side shows a table with a few fronds in a vase. Labels on the base show the provenance as the Bonham's Billie Paine sale, and Rod Jellicoe, a highly respected English porcelain dealer.

The condition of this piece is excellent, with no flaws, and deep clear colors...

A very fine and rare Bow porcelain chocolate cup with the "Golfer and Caddy" pattern. The cup of tall "U" Shape with a strap handle. The interior with a wavy border, the handle with a flowering plant, and the base with a "2" workman's mark.

The overall condition is excellent, with only an invisibly done museum quality repair to a small interior rim flake. This wonderful example looks much better in person than the photos show. Cup height is 2 7/8" with a 2 3/4" diameter.

A Bow porcelain factory wine coaster of deep circular form. This elegant and pleasing form, although it is very rarely seen, is also described as a potted meat dish. A rare Chaffers Liverpool porcelain hexagonal beaker, handpainted in blue and white. The design, taken from the Chinese, shows alternating panels of floral groups, with a trellised and floral diaper along the upper rim.

The condition of this piece is excellent, with no cracks or restoration. There is a tiny firing bite at the rim, and the bottom shows kiln bubbling common to this factory. The height is 3" and the diameter is 2 3/8"...

An extremely rare and striking c1754 Chelsea cup and saucer. The bell bowl with loop handle features a bird on a leafed branch, with several insects around the girth of the cup. The saucer is similarly decorated.

The overall condition is excellent, with clear and bright colors. Both pieces have the red anchor and stilt marks. The saucer is 5" in diameter, with the cup being 2 1/8" in height. 

A Chelsea ecuelle and cover, fulsomely painted with fancy and aquatic birds. Applied flowers and leaves decorate the bases of the twig handles, while the uncommon (but original) knop on the lid is a beautiful flower painted in three colors. The ecuelle's interior features a large convolvulus spray.

A fine and uncommon blue and white Liverpool Delft plate depicting a heron and fenced garden. The 9" plate is in fine condition, with some minor, common, and expected fritting at a few places along the rim.

A wonderful and very desirable example of an 8-sided Lowestoft tea caddy, or canister. Painted with a flower bouquet and sprays beneath a border of flowerheads and foliate scrolls, the top having flowers and leaves.

A beautiful example of a large Scratch Cross period Worcester tankard of spreading base form with a double groove strap handle. The pattern is "The Zig-Zag Fence", and is the first in a long series of Worcester fence patterns. The particular speciman offered here, with its single line mark, would be early in the c1751 to 1755 period in which this pattern was made. The expected blue workman's mark is on the base.

A fine Lowestoft porcelain strap-handled creamboat, the ovoid molded body with an undulating rim. Hand painted in a dark blue with the "Two Porter Landscape" pattern, which features two figures in a landscape with trees and birds. This particular example is particularly uncommon because of the small size, being almost an inch less in length than other examples. A "17" workman's mark is on the bottom rim. ...

A finely potted Vauxhall porcelain saucer, painted in the highly desirable "sticky blue". The scene features an Oriental person waving, amidst a landscape with buildings, trees and hills, with birds flying overhead.

This wonderful example is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, paint loss, stains, or restoration. The diameter is 4 1/2".

A fine and early English saucer showing a Chinese man with a bird. Done in blue and white, lot 303 of the Bonham's sale of the famous and important Watney collection showed this same pattern and identified it as being William Reid porcelain.

The saucer is in excellent condition and is 4 7/8" in diameter.

NOTE: William Reid & Co. were porcelain makers in Liverpool between 1756-61. Their factory was situated on Brownlow Hill where a bone-ash porcelain was produced.

A beautiful, early, and rare Worcester coffee cup of bell shape with a fine wishbone handle, painted with a flower spray, roses and a butterfly, the reverse with a moth and ladybird amongst scattered sprigs. A similar cup was sold at the Bonham's auction of 3/7/07, lot 94.

A beautiful, extremely rare, and early First Period Worcester coffee cup and saucer, each piece finely molded with fluting resembling pleats. A Samuel Gilbody of Liverpool porcelain small mug or coffee can with a flattened round loop handle and a flat unglazed base. Painted in famille rose colors with stylized peonies and a prunus bough issuing from a jardiniere. There are sacred Chinese scrolls and a larger peony spray to the right. The interior of the rim has a diaper border with prunus blossoms.

A superb and early spread base mug example of the Worcester "Walk in the Garden" pattern. Although Branyan, in his book "Worcester Blue and White Porcelain 1751 - 1790" indicates the date range for this pattern to be 1755 to 1765, the lovely pale grayish-blue color of the decoration and the presence of a scratch cross mark on the base would place manufacture of this mug (or tankard) several years earlier, making this a truly exceptional piece. A beautiful Spode porcelain plate painted with a variety of motifs. The pattern number is not listed in any of the Spode pattern books, nor have I been able to find examples of the decoration. A reasonable assumption might be that this was produced as a "one-off" sample for a larger service that was not completed.

A wonderfully rendered pottery Staffordshire portrait bust of the philosopher John Locke. The name is incised on the back of this piece. Raised on a faux marble socle, the figure is effectively modelled and strongly colored. The condition is superb, with no chips, cracks, restoration, inpainting, or enamel loss. The whitish lines on his robe were intentionally done to highlight folds. The figure is 7 1/2 inches tall and 3 1/8 inches in diameter.

A beautiful Flight, Barr and Barr Worcester plate from the desirable "Harlequin" service. The decoration features an exotic bird painted by Henry Stinton in a central reserve which is surrounded by a white field edged with gilded rococo scrollwork extending into the cavetto. The wide rim of the plate is in a pale blue decorated with multicolored butterflies and insects.

The reverse of the plate has the elaborate red mark which was used specifically during the 1813 to 1819 period.

A beautiful Flight Barr and Barr large sauce tureen from the Harlequin service. Two sides of the tureen have an exotic bird painted, by Henry Stinton, in a central reserve which is surrounded by a white field edged with gilded rococo scrollwork. An 18th century beautiful and uncommon Dr. Wall Worcester coffee cup of fluted French shape with a classical urn, swags, grapes and other fruit hand painted on it. The colors are vibrant, and the condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, or restoration. The gilding is also in wonderful shape, with only a few scattered traces of loss on the rim, visible only under magnification. The cup is 2 5/8 inches tall, with a diameter of 2 3/8 inches.

An elegant and beautiful Derby porcelain figure of "Flora," from the "Antique Seasons" set. Flora (or Spring)stands on a tall plinth, is wearing a diadem of flowers, has gathered her robe in her left hand, and is offering a wreath with her right. The Antique Seasons set was made in 1771, and each has the model number "5" incised in the base. It is described in Peter Bradshaw's book "Derby Porcelain Figures 1750-1848" as being exceedingly rare.

Superb antique English porcelain plates from the Worcester Flight, Barr and Barr factory. Placed on a gilded "seaweed" background, the central roundels depict exotic birds, beautifully painted by Charles Stinton, a well-known and highly acclaimed painter of birds.

One of the plates has the impressed crown and FBB mark, and the other has that mark and the red printed mark. Condition is mint, with no flaws of any kind, including all the gilding. The diameter of each plate is 8 3/4".

A fine and rare Chelsea porcelain figure of winter. The subject is an older man, obviously in distress, wearing only a wrap, and standing beside a brazier. This is a classical representation of "Winter", part of the Seasons group.

Beautifully modelled, painted, and glazed, the condition is excellent, with only a small invisible professional restoration to the thumb area. The height is 4 1/2".

A First Period Dr. Wall Worcester teabowl, of octagonal form, with a slightly everted rim, printed in outline and delicately hand coloured with the "Red Bull" pattern, the borders with half flowerheads alternating with green diaper panels. This is the rare early version of this pattern when Worcester first started using printed patterns. The pattern is based on a Chinese famille rose design from the Yongzheng period and appears circa 1754-56.
